Borno Residents Donate N200m to Flood Victims, Show Unity and Support

In the wake of the devastating floods that ravaged Maiduguri town, the people of Southern Borno Senatorial District have come together to show their solidarity with the affected communities. Representatives of the zone, led by Senator Ali Ndume and Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur, presented a cheque of N200m to the Borno State Government Flood Basket Fund.

The donation, which was generated from contributions from people within and outside the zone, is a testament to the resilience and compassion of the Borno people. Senator Ndume emphasized that the development was a response to the governor’s call for help from all quarters to support the victims of the flood.

Deputy Governor Kadafur, who handed over the cheque to Governor Babagana Zulum, praised those who contributed for their generosity and act of brotherhood. He assured the governor that the people of Southern Borno are strongly behind him in this trying moment and that more donations from the zone are still being expected.

Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude for the gesture and show of concern from the people of southern Borno. He urged for sustained unity among the diverse people of the state for meaningful development.

The delegation also visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kanemi, whose palace was affected by the flood, where they presented N10m support to the royal father. The members of the Borno House of Assembly also paid a sympathy visit to Governor Zulum, donating the sum of N60m.

This display of unity and support from the people of Southern Borno Senatorial District serves as a beacon of hope for those affected by the flood. It is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, communities can come together to make a difference.
