Sean “Diddy” Combs, a renowned US music mogul, has been sent to jail to await trial as his two sons left a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday. The 54-year-old is facing a federal sex trafficking case that accuses him of presiding over a decade of sexual crimes, protected by blackmail and violence.

According to the indictment, Combs is described as the head of a criminal enterprise that engaged or attempted to engage in sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for prostitution, drug offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice. His lawyer, however, maintains his innocence, stating that Combs is a fighter who will fight this case to the end.

Prosecutors claim that Combs sexually abused and used physical force against women, getting his personal assistants, security, and household staff to help him hide the incidents. They also alleged that he tried to bribe and intimidate witnesses and victims to keep them quiet.

During the searches of Combs’ homes earlier this year, law enforcement seized narcotics, videos of performances, and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, according to prosecutors. Additionally, agents seized firearms and ammunition, including three AR-15s with defaced serial numbers from his bedroom closet in Miami.

Combs’ lawyer defended his client, stating that he did not own the guns, as he employs a security company. Prosecutors, on the other hand, have interviewed over 50 people and witnesses, with the number expected to grow.

The indictment also alleges that Combs used force, threats, and coercion to get women to engage with male sex workers in “Freak Offs” – elaborate and produced sex performances. He ensured their participation by providing drugs, controlling their careers, leveraging financial support, and using intimidation and violence.

Prosecutors also accused Combs of kidnapping someone at gunpoint in December 2011, facilitating a break-in at another person’s home, and setting fire to a vehicle two weeks later by slicing open its convertible top and dropping in a Molotov cocktail.

Past allegations against Combs include a lawsuit filed by Cassie Ventura in November, accusing him of beating and raping her for years. The suit was settled, but months later, CNN aired hotel security footage showing Combs punching and kicking Ventura and throwing her on the floor. Combs apologized, stating that his actions were inexcusable and that he was disgusted by his behavior.

The current indictment against Combs lists allegations that date back to 2008, with his lawyer acknowledging that his client had used drugs and been in “toxic relationships” but is now seeking therapy. Combs and his attorneys have denied similar allegations made by others in a string of lawsuits.
