The World of Foldable Phones: Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design Sets the Stage for Honor’s New Release

In a major move, Huawei has launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design, the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, just a day after Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series. This innovative device marks a significant milestone in the world of foldable phones, and it’s about to get even more interesting. A tipster has shared details about Honor’s upcoming foldable phone, claiming it will be thinner than Huawei’s latest offering.

According to user Teme’s post on X (formerly Twitter), Honor is working on a tri-fold smartphone with a thickness of 1cm when folded. This is slightly higher than the company’s Magic V3 smartphone, which measures 9.2mm when folded. However, it’s worth noting that Honor’s rumored handset will feature two hinges, unlike the book-style foldable design. Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design, pictured above, has a thickness of 12.8mm when folded.

If this claim is accurate, the rumored triple-folding phone from Honor could measure around 10mm when folded shut – a figure slightly lower than the 12.8mm thickness of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, which is set to go on sale in China on September 20.

Other details about Honor’s tri-fold handset are scarce, but the company’s CEO has reportedly confirmed the development of a next-generation foldable phone that will compete with Huawei’s offering. Chinese smartphone makers Honor and Xiaomi are likely focused on developing tri-fold phones, while Samsung appears to be working on a different design. According to a recent report, the South Korean tech giant is developing a phone with a rollable screen that can be expanded to a 12.4-inch display. We can expect more details about these purported foldable phones in the coming months.

As the world of foldable phones continues to evolve, it’s clear that these innovative devices will soon become a staple in the tech industry. With companies like Huawei, Honor, and Samsung pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, we can expect even more exciting developments in the near future.
