Nigeria’s Traditional Ruler Calls for Enhanced Security Measures Amidst Rising Cult Activity

In a bid to stem the growing menace of cultism, the Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, has issued a stern warning to landlords and house owners in Ede town to refrain from harbouring suspected cultists. The monarch’s warning came during a meeting with the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, which took place at his palace on Wednesday.

According to Oba Lawal, some students who are members of cult groups are living in the community, and if such students refuse to denounce their activities, the palace will not hesitate to request their eviction from the area. He emphasized that his palace will work closely with landlords to identify and deal with students suspected of cult activities.

The meeting aimed to discuss ways to improve security around the campus of the institution. The Timi of Ede reiterated the importance of community cooperation in addressing the cult issue, saying that his palace will invite all landlords in the community to brief them on their roles in the new security measures.

Earlier, the Governing Council, led by its Chairman, Prof Taiwo Olaiya, revealed that the security situation on campus has improved significantly. He urged the polytechnic host community to collaborate with the management to further ensure the safety and security of both students and staff.

Oba Lawal’s warning and the efforts by the polytechnic administration to enhance security come amidst growing concerns about cult activities in Nigeria. The increasing prevalence of cultism in educational institutions has raised serious concerns about the safety of students and the potential risks to the community.

This development serves as a strong reminder of the need for community leaders, educational institutions, and law enforcement agencies to work together to tackle the scourge of cultism and ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
