CKay Slams Colleagues for Copying his Afrobeats Style After Mocking Him

Talented Nigerian singer Ckay has taken his colleagues to task, revealing that many of them copied his style of Afrobeats music after initially ridiculing him for his own unique approach. The controversial artiste, known for his hit single “Love Nwantiti,” feels that history is being altered to fit the narratives of those who are now embracing his musical direction.

For those unfamiliar, Ckay has been credited as one of the pioneers in promoting Afrobeats through social media platforms, particularly on TikTok. Despite pioneering this trend, he recollects being mocked and belittled by his then-peers who have now jumped on the bandwagon. “I pioneered many vibes Afrobeats artists thrive off today,” stated Ckay, whose confidence stems from his impact on the genre.

However, his success has bred resentment, as Ckay points out that this newfound admiration is often expressed with ulterior motives – namely financial gain. Referencing his emo-afrobeat genre, popularized through his TikTok presence, Ckay expressed that his colleagues lauded it with ridiculous titles while cashing in from its popularity. “If they didn’t make those $$, would they stop talking?” Ckay sarcastically inquired.
