Diddy’s Arrest Brings Closure to Alleged Victim 20 Years After Infamous Nightclub Shooting
In a significant development, a woman who claims Sean "Diddy" Combs shot her in the face during a 1999 nightclub shooting has expressed her relief and gratitude following his arrest. Natania Reuben, the alleged shooting victim, told Daily Beast that she learned about Combs’ arrest from her daughter and immediately felt a sense of catharsis.
Reuben was 29 years old when she was shot in the face by Combs during a confrontation at a New York City nightclub. She remembers the traumatic event vividly, saying, "I watched him. I saw him with my own eyes." The bullet damaged the middle of her eyes, leaving her with lasting scars.
Despite testifying against Combs in his trial, the surgeons were unable to remove fragments from her face, and the court was unable to provide ballistic evidence to support her testimony. Combs was ultimately acquitted, and Reuben settled the civil lawsuit for $1.8 million. Shyne, one of Combs’ artists at the time, was sentenced to 10 years in jail, despite Reuben’s claims that he was not involved in the shooting.
Reuben expressed her emotions upon learning of Combs’ arrest, saying, "I screamed out to God, ‘Thank you, merciful father!’" She described seeing Combs being arrested 20 years later as "one of the best days ever," acknowledging that he may not have been able to harm more people if he had been convicted in the original trial. Combs is now facing racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, as well as rape and sexual assault lawsuits filed in recent months.
Combs has denied all allegations of wrongdoing, despite the March raids revealing a stash of sex toys, bondage gear, and hidden cameras at his "Freak Offs" parties. Reuben’s story serves as a reminder of the long-term impact of traumatic events and the importance of seeking justice, even years after the fact.
