Edo Senatorial Election: PDP Candidate Asue Ighodalo Votes, Expresses Frustration over Slow Pace

Edo State, Nigeria – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, has exercised his right to vote in the ongoing Edo State Senatorial election. The vote took place at the Okaigben Ward 1, Unit 3, situated in Idinrio Primary School, Okaigben, Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Ighodalo arrived at the polling booth at approximately 10:33 am, just minutes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials arrived. Accompanied by his wife, Ifeyiwan, they cast their ballots at 12:03 pm.

Although the PDP candidate was accredited, he expressed frustration over the late arrival of voting materials, but was optimistic that the remaining time would be sufficient for the voting process.

"This process has been slow, but thankfully, I’ve finally voted," Ighodalo said after casting his ballot.

Ighodalo is expected to compete against the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monday Ekpobholo, for the voters in Edo Central Senatorial District, where both candidates hail from. The district comprises Esan South-East, Igueben, and Esan North East, Esan West, and Esan Central local government areas.

Despite an early morning rain, voters turned out in large numbers at various polling units across the state, casting their ballots and exercising their right to participate in the democratic process. Voting has now concluded at some polling units, with results being collated.

As the campaign trail comes to an end, Ighodalo remains optimistic about his chances of victory, despite the challenges faced during the voting process.
