Nigerian Singer Crayon Opens Up About Past Struggle with Drug Addiction

In a candid interview, Nigerian singer Charles Chibuezechukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has spoken publicly about his past struggles with drug addiction. The ‘Ngozi’ crooner revealed that he almost lost his life and was hospitalized at a psychiatric home due to his addiction.

Crayon recounted a particularly harrowing episode where he became violent and disoriented, causing him to walk barefoot down the street to Mavin studio. His colleague Rema, who was there to help him, arrived with a stick, prepared to defend himself against others who might have been approaching.

In the interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Crayon described the incident, stating, "I started acting crazy. All of a sudden I started walking on the street. I feel like I’m God’s favourite because nobody recorded me during the episode. If someone had recorded me, it would have messed with my confidence, my career and everything."

Rema’s intervention proved crucial in helping Crayon calm down and eventually seek help. The singer recalled that Rema told him, "Bro, trust me, once you pass this stage, you will come out great because I feel like this is the final battle you’re about to fight."

Crayon’s experience is a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of drug addiction and the importance of seeking help when needed. He has now spoken out in the hope of inspiring others to open up about their own struggles and seek support.

Despite the challenges he faced, Crayon has made a remarkable recovery and is currently focusing on his music career. His bravery in speaking out about his addiction is a testament to his resilience and determination to overcome his struggles.
