Edo State Governorship Election Results to Be Announced at 5:00 PM After Day of Tense Collation

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the ongoing collation of the Edo State Governorship election results until 5:00 pm on Sunday, following a long day of tense activity at the collation center in Benin City. Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Returning Officer for the election, made the announcement at around 2:19 pm on Sunday.

According to Prof. Kuta, INEC has successfully announced results from 16 local government areas (LGAs), with the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, leading the pack. However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, is closely following in second place.

So far, APC has claimed victory in 10 of the 16 LGAs announced, while PDP has won in six. The outcome of the remaining six LGAs remains unclear, with collation to resume at 5:00 pm.
