Tensions Between Israel and Hezbollah Soar, China Urges Citizens to Leave
A dire warning has been issued by China’s embassy in Israel, urging its citizens to leave the country “as soon as possible” due to the escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah. The situation along the Israel-Lebanon border is described as “extremely tense,” with frequent military conflicts occurring.
China’s embassy statement on Sunday highlighted the “severe, complex, and unpredictable” security situation in Israel, warning Chinese citizens to return home or relocate to safer areas immediately. The warning comes as Israel and Hezbollah have threatened to escalate their cross-border attacks despite international calls for both sides to step back from the brink of all-out war.
The escalation in tensions follows a series of provocative events. On Friday, an Israeli air strike killed the head of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, Ibrahim Aqil, in a densely populated Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut. This came after a series of coordinated communications device blasts on Tuesday and Wednesday across Lebanon, which killed 39 people and wounded almost 3,000. Israel has been blamed for the attacks.
This is not the first time China has issued a warning to its citizens in the region. Last month, the country asked its citizens in Lebanon to leave after an Israeli strike in the country killed a senior Palestinian militant.
The situation in the region remains precarious, and international efforts are underway to prevent further escalation. In the meantime, China’s citizens in Israel are being advised to take immediate action to ensure their safety.
