In a recent interview with AFP, Lame expressed his dedication to cinema, stating, “I hope this will be my job for life. It’s something I’ve dreamt of since I was a child.” He has already started preparing for his Hollywood debut, with an action comedy film called “00Khaby” in the works, which will be shot in Brazil, India, and the United States.
Lame’s rise to fame began during the pandemic when he started using TikTok to pass the time. His short, silent videos mocking complicated tutorials quickly took off, earning him an estimated $16.5 million through marketing deals in 2022 and 2023.
Despite his success, Lame is humble about his journey. “I thought it was just an app for dancing or children but during the pandemic I started using it because there wasn’t much to do,” he recalled. Redford, in particular, encouraged Lame to focus on being natural, rather than taking acting classes. Lame is also working on an English language course, recognizing the importance of speaking the language fluently.
Lame’s next project is a documentary series exploring the effects of climate change in African countries, including Senegal, where he was born. He will also co-write a film about the life of Tommie Smith, the American sprinter who famously raised his black-gloved fist in protest against racism during the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
