President Biden to Strengthen Ties with Germany and Angola
President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. is set to embark on a diplomatic mission to Germany and Angola from October 10 to 15. The trip aims to further solidify the strong bond between the United States and Germany, as well as foster closer ties with Angola.
In Germany, President Biden will meet with German leaders to discuss shared priorities, including democracy, countering antisemitism and hatred, and advancing cooperation on economics, trade, and technology. The President will also express his gratitude to Germany for its support in Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression, hosting U.S. service members, and contributing to the security of the United States, Germany, and the entire NATO Alliance.
The President’s visit to Luanda, Angola, from October 13-15 will focus on increased collaboration on shared priorities. This includes bolstering economic partnerships to keep companies competitive and protect workers, celebrating a signature project of the G7’s Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI), which aims to create Africa’s first trans-continental open-access rail network. The project will connect the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean, promoting economic growth and development in the region.
The President’s visit to Angola also marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the U.S.-Angola relationship, underscoring the United States’ continued commitment to African partners. The trip demonstrates how collaborating to solve shared challenges can deliver benefits for the people of the United States and across the African continent.
The President’s diplomatic efforts aim to strengthen democracy and civic engagement, intensify action on climate security and the clean energy transition, and enhance peace and security in the region. The trip is a testament to the United States’ commitment to building strong relationships with its international partners and promoting global cooperation on key issues.
