Falz Denies Aiding Bobrisky in Prison Scandal

Nigerian Rapper Falz Denies Helping Bobrisky While in Prison, Calls for Accuracy in Reporting

Renowned Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has clarified his alleged involvement in helping cross-dresser and social media personality, Bobrisky, while he was imprisoned. According to Falz, Bobrisky reached out to him solely to seek financial assistance, which he denied.

Bobrisky was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in August 2024 and served a three-month prison sentence for pleading guilty to naira mutilation. Upon his release on August 5, 2024, he released a voice recording, claiming that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son, Falz, had helped him secure a deal with the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him.

However, Falz, through his lawyers, Falana & Falana’s Chambers, vehemently denied initiating contact with Bobrisky while he was in prison. In a statement, Falz revealed that Bobrisky had contacted him seeking financial assistance of N3 million to pay officials at the Correctional Centre to stay in the VIP section.

Falz also expressed disappointment with social critic, Martins Otse, aka VeryDarkMan, who leaked the alleged voice recording, accusing him of publishing “careless statements” without verifying the facts. In a viral letter on social media, Falz emphasized the importance of accuracy in reporting and urged the public to be cautious of unverified information.

This controversy has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many calling for accountability and truthfulness in reporting. Falz’s denial has cleared up any doubts about his involvement in Bobrisky’s case, and the public is left to weigh the credibility of the sources involved.
