Benue State Governor Promises Free and Fair Local Government Election

In a bid to ensure a peaceful and transparent local government election, the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged to provide a level playing ground for all political parties participating in the upcoming polls. The election, scheduled for October 5, 2024, is expected to feature at least eight parties, with the All Progressive Congress (APC) being one of the major contenders.

Governor Alia made the promise during the flag-off of the APC election campaign in Gboko, where he was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode. Ode handed over party flags to the 23 APC chairmanship candidates and their deputies, urging them to work hard and ensure the party’s victory in the election.

In his welcome address, APC caretaker committee chairman Benjamin Omale highlighted the committee’s efforts in addressing the concerns of aggrieved aspirants and fostering unity within the party. Omale commended the state APC administration for their commitment to delivering campaign promises and urged party supporters to come out en masse on election day to vote for APC candidates.

The APC administration has also received support from President Bola Tinubu, the National Chairman of APC, and the working committee for their efforts in bringing peace to the Benue APC and forming the unity caretaker committee.

The governor’s promise of a free and fair election has been welcomed by political observers, who see it as a step in the right direction towards a peaceful and credible electoral process. With the election just around the corner, stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the outcome, hoping that it will bring about positive change in the state.
