WWE Champion Calls for Roster Shake-Up Amid Star-Studded Lineup
Bianca Belair, a top star in WWE, has spoken out about the need for change in the women’s division. The 35-year-old champion, who has been with the company since 2016, recently appeared on the Battleground podcast, where she expressed her desire to see a secondary title introduced to elevate more talent.
"I think we’re at a point in time where our roster is so stacked," Belair said. "Before you had, like, a few that were at the very, very top and they were out there every single show and having all of the matches, and now you kind of look at WrestleMania, a couple of months before, you kind of know, ‘This person’s going to be in ‘Mania.’ I think our roster is at a time now where you don’t know who’s going to be at ‘Mania and everybody’s trying to fight for a spot on the card. I feel like another title would really highlight the true talent of our division."
Belair’s comments come as WWE continues to make changes under the leadership of Triple H. The company has already introduced a secondary women’s title in NXT, the NXT Women’s North American Championship, which is currently held by Kelani Jordan.
Triple H has also announced plans to introduce a new Women’s Speed Championship, which will see a new champion be crowned. Kairi Sane recently defeated Elektra Lopez to reach the tournament’s final and is a favorite to win the title.
The introduction of the Speed Championship is exclusive to X, a new social media platform, where matches are posted with a three-minute time limit. The men’s title was first held by Ricochet and is now in possession of Andrade.
While fans have not seen the superstars carry the Speed Championship to television, the new partnership with X will allow them to do something different and win big on screen.
Belair, who has had several top WrestleMania moments in her career, is well-positioned to help elevate new talent coming out of WWE NXT.
