Hamster Kombat Airdrop Fizzles: Thousands Left with Pennies

Disappointment and Anger as Hamster Kombat Airdrop Falls Short of Expectations

In a shocking turn of events, the highly anticipated airdrop from crypto-mining app Hamster Kombat has left thousands of Nigerians in uproar. After five long months of continuous tapping to earn rewards, users expected substantial payouts promised by the coin’s promoters, with some dreaming of becoming millionaires. However, the reality has hit hard, with most payouts ranging from a mere 1 to 4 dollars.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the highest earner so far has received between 7 to 17 dollars. Social media is ablaze with frustrations, as disgruntled users lament receiving as little as ₦2.75 for their efforts. The campaign, which promised to turn everyday Nigerians into billionaires and CEOs, has instead sparked widespread disappointment and anger.

Nigerians have taken to various platforms to express their outrage, accusing Hamster Coin of misleading them. The once-hopeful community of tappers is now filled with "tears and wailings," as what was supposed to be a life-changing opportunity has turned into a bitter letdown.

Hamster Kombat launched on Thursday, with the official X account announcing the coin’s long-awaited launch. The post, which has garnered nearly one million views and over thirteen thousand comments, read: "THE MOMENT IS HERE… $HMSTR trading has official begun! Congratulations, and to the moon, CEOs."

However, the excitement was short-lived, as users quickly realized that the payouts were far from what they had expected. The coin’s market cap is valued at $535.3m, with a volume of $448.7m since launch.

Netizens have taken to social media to express their disappointment, with one user, Geoffrey Nwankpa, writing: "You gave me dust after 4 months I am killing hamsters, rats, rabbits or anything that looks like a hamster. It’s hunting season." Another user, Ediboi, posted: "I’m the ceo of dust. We’re all ceo Yes or no???"

The situation has also been met with criticism from other users, with one user, realworldxpp, tweeting: "Bro this is the worst project ever." Another user, Lord Nate, wrote: "I keep refreshing to see $0.19."

The disappointment has also been felt by users of Tapswap, a popular tap-2-earn app powered by TON Blockchain, which had promised to reward users with tokens. However, the token allocation to users has been postponed again and again, leaving many feeling frustrated and disappointed.

As the dust settles, it remains to be seen how Hamster Kombat will respond to the backlash and whether the app will be able to recover from this setback.
