Craig David Returns with Emotional New Single "In Your Hands"
British singer-songwriter Craig David has ended his two-year musical hiatus with the release of his new single, "In Your Hands." The deeply emotional record is a charming fusion of gospel, R&B, and country, serving as an ode to his inner child. VIBE is debuting the heartfelt music video, which offers a poignant reflection on David’s journey.
In the Lx-directed visual, David takes viewers on a nostalgic trip, beginning with his debut album, Born To Do It. He then transports back in time, witnessing his younger self embracing carefree joy and the power of music. The video concludes with David stumbling upon his debut album, returning to the present day.
"In Your Hands" is a significant song for David, as he aims to shine a light on the importance of embracing one’s inner child. "I wanted to shine a light on how truly special we all are, especially when we allow our inner child to play, that part of us that holds the true meaning and joy to life," the 43-year-old shared in a statement.
David described the creative process as one of his most challenging experiences since working with Sting on "Rise & Fall." He emphasized the importance of landing each part of the song to honor the simple yet powerful sentiment of the chorus.
Lx, the director of the music video, expressed their excitement about working with David, stating, "Having grown up listening to Craig David, getting to work alongside him feels like an incredible full-circle moment. Ahead of the cancelation of this year’s Lovers & Friends Fest, David shared his enthusiasm for his upcoming releases, stating, "When we tune into our inner child and we tune into the reason we got into anything, it brings back that sort of sense of joy and magic and aspirations and inspirations. I feel like those inner child moments are really important to tap back into."
David will kick off the UK leg of his Commitment Tour in February 2025, bringing his emotional new single and nostalgic vibes to fans across the globe.
