Edo State Governor-Elect Monday Okpebholo Returns Home to Hero’s Welcome

The Edo State Governor-Elect, Monday Okpebholo, returned to Benin City on Friday, greeted by a sea of supporters who thronged the Benin Airport to welcome him back from Abuja. The airport was abuzz with excitement as Okpebholo, accompanied by his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, and former Governor Adams Oshiomhole, stepped off the plane.

The trio had visited President Bola Tinubu in Abuja just days after Okpebholo’s decisive win in the September 21 governorship poll. In a bid to thank the people of Edo for their support, Okpebholo embarked on a thank-you road tour around major streets in Benin City, accompanied by his Deputy Governor-Elect, Philip Shaibu, and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

During the tour, Okpebholo reassured the people of Edo that he was committed to fulfilling his campaign promises and working for their benefit. He expressed his desire to bring development to the state, promising to make a positive impact on the lives of Edo citizens.

The governor-elect’s words were met with cheers and applause from the enthusiastic crowd, who gathered to catch a glimpse of their incoming leader. The warm welcome was a testament to the high level of enthusiasm and expectation surrounding Okpebholo’s administration.

The video below captures the excitement and joy of the occasion, as Okpebholo and his team bask in the adoration of their supporters.

As Okpebholo settles into his new role, he faces the daunting task of delivering on his campaign promises and revitalizing the state’s economy. With the weight of expectation on his shoulders, Okpebholo is poised to make a lasting impact on the people of Edo.
