Anambra State Governor Reveals 77 Communities Lack Public Schools, Promises Action
Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has shed light on a pressing issue in the state, revealing that approximately 77 communities lack public schools. Speaking at a meeting with heads of public schools, the governor assured that his administration is working diligently to address the concern and provide an all-inclusive government to the people.
The governor emphasized the importance of securing the future, stating that it is a collective effort that requires seizing the opportunity now. He highlighted that the lack of public schools in these communities is a significant issue that his administration is working to resolve. "77 communities in this state have no public schools, so this is something we are working towards," he said.
Soludo also addressed the issue of pensions and gratuities, assuring that his administration will soon complete payments to retirees. He emphasized that anyone who retires under his watch will receive their entitlements after successful documentation.
In a notable move, the governor revealed that his administration has not borrowed a dime, despite having the approval to do so. He explained that this decision was made to avoid encumbering the future, stating, "Though I have approval to borrow 100 billion naira since I came in, we haven’t borrowed. This is because we don’t want to encumber the future. I will borrow to build capacity for the future."
The governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements since taking office, including the recruitment of 8,115 teachers, over 1,000 doctors and health personnel, and the empowerment of 13,000 youths through the "one youth, two skills entrepreneurship scheme."
Soludo’s commitment to maintaining fiscal sustainability and addressing the lack of public schools in Anambra State is a promising step towards creating a brighter future for the people.
