Tinubu Charges Nigerian Armed Forces to Engage Adversaries with Sophistication
President Bola Tinubu has urged the Nigerian Armed Forces to exhibit greater military gallantry and sophistication in their operations. He made this call during the combined passing out parade of the 71 Regular Course, Army, Navy, and Air Force in Kaduna, which included Direct Short Service Course 28 (Army) and Direct Short Service Course 32 (Air Force) Cadets of the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA.
The President’s charge was delivered by Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, who represented him at the event. Tinubu emphasized the importance of the Armed Forces remaining focused in their operations, citing the belief that individuals charged with national leadership will do their job. He also noted that Nigeria is the giant of Africa and must remain so.
However, the President acknowledged that the country is facing numerous challenges that have threatened its nationhood. He listed economic challenges, deterioration in the standard of living, unemployment, and insecurity as some of the major problems plaguing the nation. Despite these challenges, Tinubu’s administration is determined to create better living conditions for Nigerians and has begun taking steps to achieve this goal.
Tinubu also highlighted the need for cooperation from all Nigerians in addressing the country’s problems. He lamented the number of widows and their children whose husbands and fathers have sacrificed their lives for the nation’s survival, and directed the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces to work out a robust policy proposal to alleviate their suffering.
The President concluded by emphasizing the importance of loyalty, commitment, dedication, resilience, and service from the cadets of the NDA, emphasizing that Nigeria has invested a lot in their training and expects them to answer the nation’s call whenever needed.
In total, 823 officers were commissioned into the nation’s Armed Forces during the parade. The President’s charge is a call to action for the Armed Forces to engage the nation’s adversaries with greater sophistication and to remain committed to their duties in serving the nation.
