Title: HP OmniBook X Review: A Productivity Powerhouse with Impressive Battery Life
Introduction:
HP has launched its first Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptops in India, and we got our hands on the consumer-focused OmniBook X. This laptop is part of the Copilot+ series, which promises to deliver up to 26 hours of battery life and features AI-enabled tools. In this review, we’ll put the OmniBook X to the test and see if it’s worth considering as a productivity powerhouse.
Design:
The OmniBook X has a basic design that may not win any style points, but it does the job. The laptop is slim at just 14.4mm and weighs about 1.34kg. The curved sides, reflective HP logo on the lid, and Omnibook logo on the outer cover of the hinge give it a unique look. The laptop has passed 19 MIL-STD tests, which is impressive, and the covers feature 50 percent recycled aluminium, while the keycaps use 50 percent recycled plastic.
Display:
The 14-inch LCD touch display offers a decent 2240 x 1400 pixels resolution and good colour output. While it’s not as bright as some other laptops, it’s suitable for indoor use. The display gets slim side bezels with slightly thicker bezels on the top and bottom, and there’s a HP logo below the display.
Keyboard, Touchpad, Speakers, and Webcam:
The keyboard is a pleasant experience, with good travel and a nice feel. The keys are broad, and there’s good spacing between them. The large trackpad is smooth and responsive, but the clicks could be better. The speakers are decent, but not loud or bass-heavy. The 5-megapixel webcam delivers good video quality in daylight conditions and has a physical privacy shutter.
Software:
The software experience on the OmniBook X is similar to other Windows 11 laptops, with the addition of HP’s AI-powered tools. You get Copilot+, HP AI Companion, and Poly Studio, which work well. The HP AI Companion gives you access to a personal assistant, and the Poly Camera app offers AI-powered features like auto framing and panning.
Performance:
The 12-core Snapdragon X Elite processor performs well, delivering snappy performance when needed. It’s also power-efficient, making it suitable for productivity tasks. The laptop ran multiple instances of Chrome and other apps without lag.
Battery:
The OmniBook X has a 59 Wh battery that easily lasts a full workday. You can also binge-watch your favourite shows without worrying about battery life. The laptop charges quickly with the included 65W compact charger.
Verdict:
The HP OmniBook X is an excellent choice for those looking for a non-flashy work laptop with great battery life, a lightweight design, good keyboard, and Windows. While it may not have the best display or speakers, it’s a well-built Windows ultrabook that’s great for productivity and some creativity. If you’re considering alternatives, the Dell XPS 13 (9345) and Asus VivoBook S15 OLED are worth exploring.
