Russia Destroys 125 Ukrainian Drones Over Its Territory

Russia Successfully Shoots Down 125 Ukrainian Drones

Sunday saw a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as Ukraine’s Defence Ministry revealed that Russia has destroyed at least 125 Ukrainian drones that had entered its territory. The drones, which included fixed-wing UAVs, were intercepted and destroyed by Russia’s air defence systems.

According to the Ministry, 67 of these drones were shot down in the Volgograd region in southern Russia, sparking grass fires but causing no casualties or damage. Similar incidents were reported in the Belgorod and Voronezh regions, with governor Aleksandr Gusev stating that several drones fell on Voronezh city and its suburbs, causing fires in two residential buildings but no casualties. Governor Vasily Golubev also reported that 18 drones were destroyed in the Rostov region.

Despite the significant damage caused by the drones, there were no reported casualties or damage on the ground. This marks the latest in a series of almost daily incidents, with Ukraine claiming that Russia is undertaking retaliatory strikes in response to its own attacks in the ongoing conflict, which began in February 2022.

The Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s announcement highlights Russia’s efforts to counter Ukrainian drone attacks, which have been intensifying in recent weeks. The conflict has been characterized by a series of raids and counter-raids on both sides, with drone attacks being a key factor in the ongoing standoff.
