PDP Chieftain Calls APC a "Gang of Zombies"

Segun Sowunmi, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has sparked controversy by describing the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a "gang of zombies" on a television program. Sowunmi made the scathing remarks during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, where he questioned the legitimacy of the APC as a political party.

Sowunmi’s comments came as he highlighted the perceived shortcomings of the APC, citing the party’s failure to conduct a congress. He contrasted this with the PDP’s recent national congress, which he said was a testament to the party’s commitment to democratic principles.

"We are struggling to keep to the principles of democracy, it’s not a graveyard peace. People will have options and go to court," Sowunmi said, emphasizing the importance of democratic processes.

The PDP chieftain’s remarks were particularly aimed at the APC’s leadership, which he accused of being opaque and lacking transparency. "APC must be deceiving itself if it thinks it’s a political party, it might be in government and a special purpose vehicle for contesting election but it will be laughable for them to wake up in the morning and somebody threw away the Chairman, ordered to go and recruit another," Sowunmi said.

Sowunmi’s comments have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many questioning the tone and substance of his remarks. While the PDP has long been critical of the APC, Sowunmi’s words have been seen as particularly harsh and divisive.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how Sowunmi’s remarks will impact the relationship between the PDP and APC. One thing is clear, however: the drama surrounding Sowunmi’s comments is likely to be a major talking point in the days and weeks ahead.
