Corruption-Fighting Efforts Intensify as ICPC Unveils New Strategic Action Plan and Podcast Initiative

In a bold move to tackle corruption head-on, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to taking the fight to the corrupt and empowering Nigeria’s youth to demand integrity. ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, announced that the commission will inaugurate its ambitious five-year Strategic Action Plan for 2024-2028, tagged "Operation Integrity", aimed at combating corruption and promoting transparency.

This milestone marks the beginning of a new five-year roadmap for the commission, following the successful implementation of its 2019-2023 plan. The new Strategic Action Plan will continue to focus on combating corruption through innovative methods and sustained action. Furthermore, ICPC will unveil its bi-weekly Podcast programme, dubbed "EthicsPod", the first of its kind by any anti-corruption body in West Africa. This youth-focused podcast aims to educate and engage young Nigerians on the importance of transparency, accountability, and taking a stand against corruption.

EthicsPod will feature a panel of experts, beneficiaries, victims, and key actors discussing corruption, sharing real-life stories to expose its impact and empower listeners with practical tools to resist and report corrupt practices. This integral part of ICPC’s mission is designed to increase public reporting of corruption cases by the end of the 2024-2028 Strategic Action Plan. The event will be graced by prominent government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of Nigeria, Senator George Akume, who will represent President Bola Tinubu.
