Local Government Elections in Plateau State: APC Campaign Flagoff

As Nigeria prepares for its upcoming local government elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has intensified its campaign efforts. Recently, the APC campaign flagoff for the October 9th, 2024, local government elections took place in Kanam LGA of the State, where the party’s candidate for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam constituency, Yusuf Gagdi, urged residents to vote for the party.

Gagdi emphasized that his constituents will vote for the APC because of the party’s mark in the State. He noted that the APC has received 15,000 decampees from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the State. The APC leader also called on the electoral umpire, the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), to ensure that the upcoming polls are credible and free from manipulation.

During the campaign flagoff, Gagdi expressed confidence that the people of Kanam will vote for the APC, stating that all the roads in the area were constructed by him, and he is a product of the APC. He challenged the PDP-led administration in the State to show what it has achieved for the people in the past year.

The APC chairman in the State, Rufus Bature, commended Gagdi for his efforts in uplifting his constituents and the constituency at large. He called on the people of Kanam to come out and vote for the party to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy. Bature assured those who defected from the PDP to the APC that they will be given equal opportunities as other party members to ensure their success in the upcoming polls.

The APC’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the party’s flags to the chairmanship and councillorship candidates. As the elections approach, the APC is leaving no stone unturned in its bid to win the hearts and votes of the people of Kanam and Plateau State as a whole.

With the APC’s strong showing in the State, the party is confident that it will emerge victorious in the upcoming local government elections. As the campaign intensifies, the people of Plateau State will have the opportunity to choose their preferred candidate and party. The APC’s campaign flagoff is a clear indication of the party’s commitment to democracy and its desire to serve the people of Plateau State.
