Nasir El-Rufai, Former Kaduna State Governor, Denies Looting State Treasury, Reports Accusers to Allah
Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has vehemently denied allegations of looting the state treasury during his tenure, saying he had already reported his accusers to Allah. The accusations were made by the Kaduna State House of Assembly in June, which indicted El-Rufai’s administration of money laundering, abuse of office, and misappropriation of N432 billion.
In a recent interview with Freedom FM, a Kaduna-based radio station, El-Rufai insisted that he never joined politics to steal and that he is content with what he had even before becoming governor. He added that he has instructed his lawyers to challenge the allegations in court and has continued to work for the people, alongside those who share his values of public service.
El-Rufai expressed surprise and disappointment at the alleged witch-hunt against him and some of his supporters, stating that he has reported everything to Allah and is seeking God’s judgment. He emphasized that he is focused on his normal activities, including reading and writing, and is not making comments on the issue.
Despite the allegations, El-Rufai remains confident that he will get justice, saying that he has faith in God and the positive-minded people who know the truth. He also mentioned that he will return to politics by 2027 after completing his studies.
The controversy surrounding El-Rufai’s tenure has sparked widespread debate, with many calling for accountability and transparency in governance. El-Rufai’s claims of innocence and his willingness to seek justice through divine intervention have raised questions about the effectiveness of the political system in addressing corruption.
As the debate continues, El-Rufai’s actions and statements serve as a reminder of the complexities and challenges involved in maintaining public trust and accountability in government.
