Nigerian President Embarks on Two-Week Vacation, Announces Plan for National Youth Conference
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to depart Abuja today for a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom, a working vacation that will give him the opportunity to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms. Tinubu will return to Nigeria after the leave expires.
During his Independence Day speech, Tinubu celebrated Nigeria’s 64th anniversary and announced plans to introduce a 30-day national youth conference aimed at involving young people in the administration. The conference, expected to unite young people nationwide, will focus on issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice.
According to the President, the conference will provide a platform for young people to engage in meaningful dialogue and contribute to nation-building. "We lead today with the future we wish to bequeath to our children in focus, recognising that we cannot design a future that belongs to them without making them its architects," Tinubu said.
The President also saluted the doggedness of the Nigerian people, who have survived crises that have disintegrated other nations. Tinubu expressed his administration’s determination to win the war against bandits and terrorists, stating that the goal is to allow displaced farmers to return to their farmlands and boost production to reduce soaring food prices.
Tinubu’s administration has been working to reform Nigeria’s political economy and defence architecture to ensure the nation’s survival. The President is committed to building a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria, and this initiative is seen as a key step towards achieving that goal.
As the President embarks on his vacation, Nigerians are eagerly anticipating the implementation of the 30-day national youth conference and the impact it will have on the country’s future.
