Biafra Leader Warns Against Misrepresentation of Agitation, Vows to Protect Southeast Region
Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), has issued a stern warning against misrepresenting Biafra agitation. Ekpa’s comments come in response to a viral video that allegedly revealed a plan to settle refugees, migrants, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Imo State.
In a statement released through his official X account, Ekpa condemned the alleged plan, stating that the lives of every Biafran remain sacrosanct to BRGIE. He emphasized that the Biafra government will not allow any Boko Haram IDP camp in Biafraland, stressing that the Biafra government is responsible for the security of its territory, not Nigeria.
Ekpa’s warning comes amid a backdrop of growing insecurity in the Southeast region. The residence of Frank Ibezim, a former senator who represented Okigwe North (Okigwe Zone), and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) study centre at Nsu were set ablaze on Monday. The incident was condemned by the Police Command, the Imo State Government, and Senator Ibezim.
The Biafra leader’s vow to protect the Southeast region against terrorism, banditry, and other elements of insecurity has been met with a mix of reactions from various quarters. While some have hailed Ekpa’s determination to safeguard the region, others have expressed concerns about the potential consequences of his actions.
As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the people of the Southeast region are demanding action to address the growing threats to their safety and security. Ekpa’s leadership and the Biafra government’s commitment to protecting its territory will be closely watched in the coming days and weeks.
