Benue State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has a new leader, with Chief Ezekiel Adaji emerging as the chairman following a recent state congress. The party’s 27-member State Executive Committee was also elected, with Chief Adaji at the helm.

The state congress, held on Thursday in Makurdi, saw the election of several other officials, including State Secretary Dan Nyikwagh, State Publicity Secretary Tim Nyor, Youth Leader Ibya Terkimbil, and Women Leader Mrs Alice Albert. The officials were sworn in by Friday Ejembi, Caretaker Committee Legal Officer.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Adaji thanked party members for their overwhelming support, stating that Benue State is in dire need of leadership. He pledged that his State Executive Committee would not disappoint the party and would work towards its success, including by setting up a reconciliation committee to resolve grievances within the party.

According to leader of the Benue State PDP Congress Electoral Committee, Alh. Ibrahim Shaba, a total of 2910 delegates were listed, with 2900 accredited for the state congress election.

As the newly inaugurated chairman, Chief Adaji inherits a party that is recovering from a period of internal crisis. His leadership and the newly elected State Executive Committee will play a crucial role in the party’s efforts to bounce back and regain its strength. With his promise to hit the ground running and prioritize reconciliation, Adaji is well-positioned to guide the party through this challenging period.
