Katsina State Government Spends N50 Million on Integrated Islamic School Projects

The Katsina State Government has invested about N50 million in constructing 20 Integrated Islamic School (IQS) learning shades across the state. According to the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Kabir Magaji, this is one of his 73 achievements since assuming office in August 2023.

Magaji revealed that each of the shades was constructed at a cost of N2.5 million. The government has also procured and supplied First Aid supplements and drugs to IQSA centers at a cost of N14.7 million. Additionally, N15 million was spent on the result framework, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Furthermore, the government has constructed staff quarters in hard-to-reach areas to ensure teachers’ stability and promptness. Magaji added that the government has also provided solar inverters to 40 Transforming Education System at State Level (TESS) intervention primary schools at a cost of N120 million.

Other notable projects include the procurement of 34 laptop computers for LGEA Monitoring and Evaluation officers at a cost of N25 million, repairs of grounded ICT centers’ equipment in schools and LGEAs for N35 million, and the construction of 67 blocks of two classrooms for N971.1 million.

Magaji also mentioned that the government has recruited 5,095 permanent and pensionable primary school teachers and has approved the release of N4,030,000 to settle the arrears of monthly allowances of 74 casual staff.

The projects are part of the government’s efforts to improve education in the state and ensure that students have access to quality facilities and resources.
