Ogun State Government Donates N200 Million to Borno State Amid Devastating Flood

The Ogun State Government has stepped in to provide relief to the people of Borno State, who have been ravaged by a devastating flood that has displaced thousands of residents and caused widespread destruction. In a gesture of solidarity, the Ogun State Government has donated N200 million to the Borno State Government to assist in the relief efforts.

According to Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, the donation is aimed at providing immediate relief to the victims of the flood and assisting in the recovery process. "The flood has caused an unimaginable humanitarian crisis in the state, necessitating immediate support from all Nigerians to provide succour for the affected people," said Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The flood, which began after the Alau Dam overflowed due to heavy rainfall, has left a trail of destruction in its wake. According to reports, at least 414,000 people have been displaced, and 30 lives have been lost in the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that the flood is the worst the town has experienced in 30 years, and the humanitarian crisis is dire. The Ogun State Government’s donation is a significant step towards providing relief to those affected and supporting the efforts of the Borno State Government and other stakeholders to recover from the disaster.
