Charly Boy Slams Pastor Adeboye’s Tithing Apology, Demands Return of Collected Tithes

Renowned Nigerian musician Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has taken to social media to express his skepticism about Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding tithing. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God had previously stated that those who don’t pay tithe won’t make it to heaven. However, Adeboye later apologized for his statement, citing that it was wrong and not found in the Bible.

Charly Boy, who has been a vocal critic of religious institutions, believes that Adeboye’s apology rings hollow unless he returns the tithes he has collected from his congregation. In a scathing rebuke, Charly Boy said, “Your apology doesn’t mean anything unless you promise to return the tithe money people gave you for trying to bribe them their way to heaven.”

The singer also criticized Adeboye’s congregation, stating that some of the most “fake” people he has encountered are found in churches. He noted that some people may appear nice on the outside but have “bodies covered with tattoos” and possess “bitter, judgemental, envious, and wicked” attitudes.

Charly Boy’s criticism of Adeboye and his church comes as no surprise, given his long-standing critique of religious institutions. However, his call for the return of collected tithes serves as a reminder that, for many people, faith and finance are intricately linked.

Adeboye’s apology and Charly Boy’s response highlight the ongoing debate surrounding tithing and the role of religious leaders in society. As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen whether Adeboye will take concrete steps to address Charly Boy’s concerns and regain the trust of his congregation.
