Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission Issues Certificates of Return to Newly Elected Chairmen

In a widely anticipated move, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission has issued certificates of return to the newly elected local government chairmen in the Nigerian state. The exercise took place on Saturday, during which the Action People’s Party emerged victorious, bagging 22 out of 23 chairmanship positions. The Action Alliance won one seat.

The chairmen received their certificates from the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, Adolphus Enebeli, at the RSIEC headquarters in Port Harcourt, the state capital. With their certificates in hand, they are now expected to be sworn in by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, paving the way for them to assume office and begin their three-year tenure.

* Degema – Harry Agiriye
* Eleme – Brain Gokpa
* Emohua – David Omereji
* Etche – Uzodinma Nwafor
* Gokana – Monday Dumiye
* Ikwerre – Isreal Abosi
* Khana – Martins Nwigbo
* Obio/Akpor – Chijioke Ihunwo
* Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni – Prince Isaac Umejuru
* Ogu/Bolo – Ishmael Oforibika
* Okrika – Igwe Achese
* Omuma – Promise Reginald
* Opobo/Nkoro – Enyiada Cookey-Gam (re-elected)

The win by the Action People’s Party marks a significant turn of events in the governance of Rivers State, bringing about a new era in local government leadership. With the certificates of return secured, the newly elected chairmen are poised to deliver on their campaign promises to the people of Rivers State.
