Ondo State Gears Up for November 16 Governorship Polls as INEC Ensures Credible and Transparent Voting Process
In preparation for the November 16 governorship polls in Ondo State, Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and non-sensitive materials have arrived in the state. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, made this announcement during a media briefing, emphasizing that INEC is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a seamless and flawless voting process.
The REC stressed that security agencies are also well-prepared for the off-cycle governorship election, with a strong focus on tackling the issue of vote-buying. “We call on the good people of Ondo State to come out en masse on election day, exercise their franchise peacefully, and contribute to the democratic process,” Babalola said. “We assure you that every vote will count, and we will continue to sensitise people to desist from vote buying.”
To further ensure a smooth voting process, INEC has deployed Registration Area Technical Support Staff (RATECH) to all Registration Areas (RAs) to provide technical assistance in case of any issues with the BVAS. This move aims to guarantee that voters are properly accredited and that the election is conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
As the state prepares for the polls, INEC has reiterated its commitment to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive election. “We are fully committed to conducting a credible, transparent, and inclusive election in Ondo State,” the REC emphasized. “We are working assiduously to succeed in the forthcoming governorship election.”
The arrival of the BVAS and non-sensitive materials in Ondo State marks a significant milestone in the lead-up to the governorship polls. With INEC’s assurances of a smooth and credible voting process, voters in the state can look forward to exercising their democratic rights in a peaceful and orderly manner.
