Osun State Executive Council Demands Dissolution, Criticizes Commissioner’s Attitude

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has called for the dissolution of the Osun State Executive Council, citing the need for a change in the cabinet to inject "vibrant blood" into the administration. The party’s demand comes just weeks into the midterm anniversary of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration.

According to a statement by Kola Olabisi, Director of Media and Information, the APC believes that the current cabinet is "overdue for dissolution" and that Governor Adeleke should take this opportunity to choose his own team, rather than relying on nominees donated to him by party leaders based on patronage.

The statement also criticized the attitude of the commissioners in Governor Adeleke’s cabinet, describing them as "redundant and obscure," known only for their frequent appearances at social gatherings. The party noted that the commissioners’ obscurity is affecting the state’s development, particularly for primary and secondary school pupils who are unable to name more than one or two cabinet members.

The Osun APC also demanded an audit of the total number and identities of aides appointed by Governor Adeleke, citing concerns that some of these appointees have never set foot in Osun State or even the country. The party believes that it is the right of the governed to know the number and identities of political appointees whose salaries are being paid through the public fund.

The statement added that Osun State has the highest number of political aides among the comity of governors in Nigeria, which is "unenviable" given the state’s economic situation.

The Osun APC’s demands are aimed at ensuring that Governor Adeleke’s administration is transparent and accountable, and that the cabinet is reformed to serve the best interests of the state and its people.
