The People’s Democratic Party Sets Stage for 2025 Zonal Congresses
In a major development, the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party has approved the timetable for the 2025 zonal congresses. According to PUNCH Online, new Zonal Working Committees and National Ex-officio members will be elected at the congresses.
The announcement was made by the party’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, who stated that the party’s National Executive Committee had approved the conduct of the zonal congresses during its 592nd meeting. The meeting took place ahead of the expiration of the current Zonal Executives’ tenures in the South-South, South-East, South-West, North-Central, and North-East zones.
The timetable and schedule of activities have been outlined, with key dates including the sale of forms for all ZWC positions and National Ex-Officio roles from November 18, 2024, to December 18, 2024. The deadline for submission of completed Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms is January 17, 2025. Screening of aspirants will take place at the Zonal Headquarters on January 25, 2025, with screening appeals on February 1, 2025.
Publication of cleared aspirants is set for February 12, 2025, and publication of delegate lists for February 13, 2025. The congress dates are February 22, 2025, for the North-East, South-East, and South-South zones, and March 22, 2025, for the North-Central and South-West zones. Appeal on Zonal Congresses will take place on February 25, 2025, and March 26, 2025, respectively.
Ologunagba encouraged all PDP leaders, stakeholders, and members to remain united and work toward the progress of the party. He also urged all intending aspirants to contact the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization or the Directorate of Finance at the National Secretariat for information on applicable fees and other inquiries.
