Nigerian Communications Commission Takes Aim at Starlink Over Unapproved Data Tariff Hike

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Muoka stated that Starlink’s decision to unilaterally review its subscription packages upwards did not receive the approval of the NCC. "We were surprised that the company jumped the gun by announcing price changes after filing a request to the Commission seeking approval for price adjustment for which the Commission was yet to communicate a decision," Muoka said.

The NCC has expressed its disappointment and frustration at Starlink’s actions, which it believes are capable of eroding the regulatory stability of the telecommunications industry. As a result, the Commission has announced plans to take appropriate enforcement measures against the company.
