Super Eagles Players Convene in Uyo for Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying Fixture Against Libya
The countdown to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has begun, and the Super Eagles of Nigeria are one step closer to making their mark. A total of 20 players have arrived in the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Uyo, marking the beginning of the team’s preparation for the highly anticipated qualifying fixture against Libya on Friday.
The influx of players began on Tuesday morning with the arrival of seven players, taking the initial count to nine. However, an additional 11 players joined the camp later in the day. Kelechi Iheanacho, Osayi-Samuel, and Chidera Ejuke Ejuke remain the only absentees yet to report for duty.
Despite the initial tardiness, the players’ spirits were high as they engaged in their first training session at the practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The session was attended by both the media and members of the public, providing an opportunity to get a glimpse of the team’s tactics and camaraderie.
The Super Eagles will need to muster all their might to overcome Libya in their bid to claim a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations. The team will rely heavily on the talents of Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, and Samuel Chukwueze, among others. Other notable players in the camp include Victor Boniface, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Maduka Okoye, William Troost-Ekong, and Calvin Bassey.
