Dr. Sid Leaves Nigeria, Relocates to the United States
Nigerian singer, Sydney Esiri, popularly known as Dr. Sid, has made a significant decision to relocate to the United States of America. The “Over The Moon” hitmaker made this announcement on a recent episode of the “No Man’s Friend” podcast, citing a job opportunity in New York as the reason for his departure from Nigeria.
According to Dr. Sid, he left Nigeria last year after securing a job with a company in New York that offered him the chance to live anywhere in the US. He also mentioned that his family has ties in Houston, and his best friend resides in the city, making it an easy choice for him. Dr. Sid has been working in the US for the past year and a half.
Dr. Sid’s music career dates back to 2002 when he was part of the group Da Trybe and featured on the hip-hop hit “Oya” alongside Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen. He then released his debut solo single “Don’t Stop” in 2003 before taking a break from music to pursue his university degree and become a qualified dentist.
In 2007, Dr. Sid relocated to the UK to work with JJC & the 419 squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’prince, and D’Banj. He started recording a studio album titled “Prognosis” in 2005, which featured the single “Raise Da Roof” but later abandoned the project.
Dr. Sid returned to his music career in 2010, releasing his debut solo studio album “Turning Point” with standout tracks “Over The Moon” and “Pop Something”. Following a disagreement with his former partners at Mo’ Hits Records, D’Banj and Don Jazzy, Dr. Sid signed with Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, releasing his sophomore album “Siduction” in December 2013.
Dr. Sid made his acting debut in 2014, starring in Moses Inwang’s film “The Last 3 Digits” alongside Nonso Diobi.
