Wendy’s Krabby Patty: The Real-World Version of Bikini Bottom’s Most Popular Burger
As of October 8, the Wendy’s Krabby Patty, inspired by the beloved cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants, is now available in restaurants nationwide. The cartoon-turned-IRL burger consists of ground beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, and a "super special secret sauce" served on a toasted bun. However, the internet has mixed reactions, particularly from SpongeBob superfans.
The Krabby Patty Kollab Burger, as it’s officially called, is "inspired" by the swashbuckling, under-the-sea animation, but it’s not an exact replica. Despite this, Krusty Krab devotees are still excited to try the burger. Some fans were disappointed when promo images didn’t match the cartoon variant, while others pointed out the inaccurate order of ingredients.
On Reddit, one user, @Blue_Wave_2020, said, "What’s different about this burger? Looks like a regular Wendy’s cheeseburger." Another user noted, "Doesn’t even have a sesame seed bun." Some commenters in the official SpongeBob subreddit voiced dissatisfaction that it’s not plant-based, citing producer Vincent Waller’s statement that there is "absolutely no meat in the Krabby Patty; there is no animal product in there."
Others noted that the meat inside the IRL Krabby Patty has a squarish shape, unlike the round patty in Bikini Bottom. ConclusionDouble3962, who claims to have purchased the Krabby Patty Kollab Burger, said, "It was basically just an overhyped Dave’s Single."
Despite some criticisms, many people who tried the burger seemed to enjoy it. @Caylaisawesome said, "I’d get it again and that frosty was on another level," referring to the Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty that comes with the total Krabby Patty Kollab Meal. The burger has decent reviews, with some fans praising its taste and others appreciating the limited-edition opportunity.
The Wendy’s Krabby Patty Kollab Burger is a limited-edition meal, available only for a short time. If you had a chance to try the new Krabby Patty, let us know what you think in the comments.
