PDP Seeks Urgent Crisis Meeting Amid Internal Squabbles

PDP Calls for Urgent National Executive Committee Meeting to Address Party Crisis

A meeting that could shape the future of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is on the horizon. The board of trustees of the party has issued a pressing recommendation for the national working committee to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to address the ongoing crisis within the party.

According to sources, the call for the meeting was made by Senator Adulphus Wabara, chairman of the PDP board of trustees, at a meeting of the board in Abuja on Thursday. In his remarks, Wabara emphasized the importance of party members presenting themselves to the disciplinary committee to address any issues that may have arisen.

The move comes amid reports of a deepening divide within the party, with some members questioning the tenure of the acting national chairman, Umar Damagum, and others calling for a more concerted effort to discipline members who have been seen to be in violation of party regulations.

In a separate development, the PDP board of trustees had earlier held a significant meeting with the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, in August, where discussions centered on the political situation in the state and its potential impact on the party.

As the PDP navigates this challenging period, the urgent need for a settlement appears critical. The party’s disciplinary committee will now have a crucial role to play in resolving these internal conflicts and paving the way for a more united and effective PDP.

The clock is ticking, and it remains to be seen how the party will respond to this latest call to action. Will the NEC meeting yield the desired results, or will the crisis within the party continue to spiral out of control? One thing is certain: the focus is on the PDP’s internal dynamics, and the world is watching.
