Nigeria: Elderly Couple Brutally Murdered, Police Condemned to Thorough Investigation

The brutal murder of an elderly couple, Jacob and Comfort Udo, has sent shockwaves across Nigeria, prompting the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives to condemn the heinous act.

According to a statement issued by the Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda (PDP-Rivers), the couple was brutally beheaded and butchered by yet-to-be-identified assailants in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. The perpetrators also made off with several properties from the victims’ house.

Chinda called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and apprehend the culprits, describing the crime as “despicable, callous, and wicked.” He also condemned the senseless and horrific killing, saying it was “deeper human, rudderless, and vicious.”

The Minority Leader expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, saying the incident evokes pains, anger, and regrets. He lamented that Nigeria and its citizens continue to witness and hear stories of similar occurrences across the country.

“It is a sad reality that has plagued our great nation for far too long. Incidents of bloodletting and extra-judicial killings have become all too common, with mean-spirited and criminally-infested souls unleashing their evil on hapless, law-abiding citizens,” Chinda said.

The Minority Caucus urges law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in their investigation, and to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The horrific murder of Jacob and Comfort Udo is a stark reminder of the need for renewed commitment to peace, justice, and the protection of all Nigerian citizens.
