Ondo Governorship: Social Democrat Slams Past Governors’ 80% Failure

Ondo State’s Rebuilding: Gubernatorial Candidate Blames Past Governors for 80% Failure

The upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State is gaining momentum, with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, sounding the alarm about the state’s past governors. According to Akingboye, these governors have made only 20% success, while recording 80% failure in critical areas. In a press conference in Ibadan, Oyo State, Akingboye highlighted the failures of previous governments in Ondo State, particularly in education, power, industrialization, and economic development.

Akingboye emphasized the need to correct these mistakes, citing examples such as Ondo State’s decline from being a leader in cocoa production to now ranking fifth. He noted that Taraba State has surpassed Ondo State in this sector, asking why Ondo State is not following suit. “If Taraba State can be the first in cocoa production today, why is Ondo State ranked fifth?” Akingboye questioned.

The SDP candidate also addressed the role of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that he will not interfere with the election process, as people are closely watching what will happen. Akingboye advised Tinubu to “stay out of it” and emphasized that the election will be free, fair, and peaceful.

Akingboye’s declaration comes ahead of the November 16th election, which Media Talk Africa reports has been scheduled for this year. As the race to rebuild Ondo State heats up, Akingboye’s message is clear: it’s time to correct the mistakes of the past and work towards a brighter future for the state.
