Israel Warns Lebanon Residents: “Do Not Return Home Until Further Notice” as Military Fights Hezbollah
The Israeli military has warned residents of south Lebanon to stay away from their homes and villages, labeling them “dangerous combat zones” as troops continue to battle Hezbollah militants in the area. The warning comes as Israel’s military intensifies its ground and air assault in northern Gaza, targeting Palestinian militants and shelters.
According to Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee, the village residents are at risk of harm if they return to their homes, saying, “For your own protection, do not return to your homes until further notice. Do not go south; anyone who goes south may put his life at risk.” The Israeli military is also urging health workers and medical teams in southern Lebanon to avoid using ambulances, claiming they are being used by Hezbollah fighters.
The warning follows a deadly attack on an Israeli soldier in which two troops were killed, and which Israel has blamed on Hezbollah. The group has denied involvement. The situation has escalated tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, leading to a multi-front war, with the Israeli military engaged in battles against Palestinian militants in Gaza.
The warning has sparked international concern, with the United Nations Peacekeepers coming under fire in south Lebanon. Several countries, including Germany, have launched operations to evacuate their nationals from Lebanon, with the German government providing assistance to an estimated 1,800 citizens to leave the country.
As the situation continues to deteriorate, residents in north Lebanon are being ordered to evacuate the area around Sheikh Radwan, south of Jabalia refugee camp, which has been designated as a “dangerous combat zone.” The Israeli military has warned that those who enter the area may put their lives at risk, and are being advised to move to the humanitarian zone in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
