Bauchi State Assembly Approves N96.6 Billion Supplementary Budget for 2024
In a move aimed at addressing gaps in the initial 2024 budget and providing funds for unforeseen expenses, the Bauchi State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of N96.676 billion. The supplementary budget was approved after the adoption of the House Committee on Appropriations report during a plenary session.
The budget aims to address changing economic conditions and allocate additional resources for both ongoing and new development projects throughout the state. According to Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Habibu Umar, the supplementary budget will also provide funds for unforeseen expenditures.
Umar also emphasized the importance of regular performance reporting from ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). He warned that underperforming revenue lines may not be included in the 2025 budget, urging that MDAs report their performance regularly to ensure accountability.
Additionally, the House is set to issue a letter of commendation to the Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport for their outstanding presentation and defense of the ministry’s 2024 budget performance. This move is seen as a way to recognize and encourage strong performance and accountability from government officials.
