Israel’s Aggressive Action in Gaza: Palestinians Flee as Israeli Military Issues New Evacuation Orders
Last Saturday, the Israeli military renewed its orders for Palestinians in the northern Gaza Strip to leave their shelters, forcing thousands of people to flee to a packed area in the south of the Strip. The decision was made after a week of intense fighting with Palestinian militants in the region. Israeli war jets and artillery have been pounding the area, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake.
According to media reports, scores of people have already been killed, and the condition of many more is unclear. Adding to the horror, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has reportedly ordered the evacuation of patients and medical staff from the three main hospitals in northern Gaza, leaving the already fragile healthcare system on the brink of collapse.
The destruction is widespread, with many hospitals already severely damaged. Dr. Ahmed, the Director of the Nursing Department at Kamal Edwan hospital, lamented the devastating loss, saying, “Al-Nasr Children’s Hospital is the largest hospital providing services to children. It is completely destroyed and cannot be restored due to the extent of the destruction.”
The United Nations Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, has also weighed in, releasing a report on Thursday that found Israel had “perpetrated a concerted policy to destroy Gaza’s healthcare system.” Israel has rejected the findings.
This latest escalation has added to the over 42,227 people killed and the over 98,464 wounded in Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip. The situation remains dire, and the international community is urging a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
