Security Scare at Donald Trump’s California Rally as Man Found with Gun and Handgun
A man was arrested by sheriff’s deputies for illegally carrying a shotgun and loaded handgun at a Donald Trump rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday. The incident has left questions about the intentions of the 49-year-old Las Vegas resident, Vem Miller, who was later released on bail and faces a court hearing on January 2.
According to the Riverside County sheriff’s office, Miller was stopped at a checkpoint near the rally and arrested for possessing a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine. The Secret Service confirmed that it was aware of the incident and stated that neither Trump nor rally attendees were ever in danger.
The event occurred just days after two prior assassination attempts against the president, including one in Pennsylvania in which a bullet grazed his ear and a second, aborted attempt at his Florida golf course. This latest incident has raised concerns about the safety of the president and his associates.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Trump supporter, addressed the rally and told a press conference that it was impossible to know the true intentions of the suspect, adding that his deputies may have prevented the third assassination attempt. Bianco also stated that the man had multiple passports and IDs with different names in his unregistered vehicle.
The Trump campaign has not issued a statement on the incident, which has shocked political analysts who were surprised by the president’s decision to hold a rally in heavily Democratic California. Despite the hot weather, with temperatures near 100°F (38°C), the rally drew a large crowd.
The incident has sparked concerns about the president’s safety and the ability of law enforcement to protect him and his associates. The investigation is ongoing, with federal authorities set to take further action if necessary.
