Building Collapse in Lagos: No Casualties Reported, Says LASEMA

A drama unfolded in Orile-Iganmu, a suburb in Lagos, when a two-storey building collapsed on Monday, but fortunately, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.

According to a statement released by the agency, the building collapsed on its own at around 8:45 a.m., and LASEMA’s Response Teams are currently in the area, conducting a search and rescue operation.

In a statement, Mr. Nosa Okunbor, the Head of the Public Affairs Unit at LASEMA, provided an update on the situation, stating that “LASEMA Response Teams in Search and Rescue Operation is at a self-collapsed building on Amusu Street, Baale Bus Stop, Orile Iganmu. No casualties, and updates to follow.”

While the exact cause of the collapse is still unknown, LASEMA has assured that they are working closely with emergency responders and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and swift resolution to the situation.

As investigations continue, residents of the affected area are breathing a sigh of relief that no one was injured in the incident, and authorities are working to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
