The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) in Ondo State will commence on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming governorship election on November 16, 2024. The commission made this announcement on Monday through a statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun.

The PVCs, which include 89,777 new cards, will be available for collection at two levels across 221 centers in the state. The first level will be in all 203 wards from October 17th to 21st, 2024, while the second level will be in the 18 Local Government Area (LGA) offices from October 23rd to 29th, 2024. The collection period will be from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, including weekends.

The commission emphasized that the PVCs will be available for collection by registered voters in person, reiterating that collection by proxy is not allowed. The statement also urged registered voters to pick up their PVCs on the approved dates, further stressing that no cards will be collected by proxy.

The commission has also uploaded detailed information, including location addresses of the Ward and LGA collection centers, on its website and social media platforms for public information. Additionally, the commission has uploaded the entire collection register for new voters on its website to facilitate easy identification of names and collection centers for seamless collection of PVCs.

The upcoming governorship election in Ondo State is a crucial one, and it is essential for voters to have their PVCs to exercise their democratic rights. The commission’s move to make the PVCs available will ensure a smooth and peaceful election process.
