Telecommunication Chaos Hits Kogi State, Union of Journalists Demands Action
In Kogi State, Nigeria, the poor quality of telecommunication services has been a major concern for subscribers over the past week. The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has taken issue with the situation, urging telecommunication operators and regulatory bodies to resolve the matter without further delay.
According to a statement issued by the chapel, subscribers in the state have been experiencing epileptic services from operators such as MTN, Airtel, and Glo, resulting in severe implications for information flow, peace and security, healthcare delivery, financial transactions, and more. The statement, jointly signed by Chairman Segun Salami and Secretary Abdulrahman Salihu, also notes that subscribers have been left without deliberate communication from the operators, leaving them to rely on hearsay and rumors.
The NUJ chapel has therefore called on the relevant stakeholders to put an end to the poor communication issues in the interest of national peace, harmony, and justice. The statement emphasizes that Nigerians are already facing numerous challenges and do not need the added burden of poor communication services.
The situation underscores the importance of effective communication in all aspects of life, from personal to professional. As the world becomes increasingly connected, reliable and efficient communication services are essential for maintaining social cohesion, economic stability, and individual well-being.
